โWhat a great day of croquet we had at Unity Croquet Club as 16 high handicap players competed in the inaugural Michael Percival Cup. The morning round robin matches were played in groups of four where each player played three doubles games partnering each of the other players in the group in turn.
The eight players with the best individual results progressed to the semifinals.
Semifinal one saw Anesta Newson and Harry Watson play Ken Newson and Lesley Burrows while semifinal two was contested between Susan Vipond and Steve Power against Val Worley and Cilla Steed.
After two hard fought semifinal matches the final came down to Lesley and Ken against Val and Cilla.
At this stage the final moved to the big lawn and saw Lesley and Ken victorious.
Well done to all the players and thanks the catering team as well as all the supporters.
Pimms and Nibbles followed the final to round off an enjoyable day of Croquet in the sunshine.โ
